Union County College Announces League of Legends High School Combine

CRANFORD, NJ – March 26, 2019 – Union County College in Cranford NJ is hosting the first ever New Jersey League of Legends Combine for High School players on Saturday, May 4th, 2019. 20 of the highest ranked players in New Jersey will be accepted and divided into four different teams. These teams will then face off in a round robin bracket which will lead to a Grand Finals match. This event is a scouting grounds that will help high schoolers get scouted by collegiate level organizations by having them face off against one another in a high level competition. The winners of this match will be crowned the Combine Champions. This event will also give students to opportunity to meet and connect with Collegiate Esports professionals to better understand how they can continue to compete after graduating High School.

“With this event, we’re looking to accomplish two things,” says Assistant Coach Nick DePasquale. “First, we want to help establish a basis for High School Esports on a regional level. Many organizations such as HSEL and NFHS are pouring into High School Esports, and we want to extend our resources to help nurture that scene. Secondly, we want to help encourage high schoolers to think about scouting and collegiate play even during the younger years of High School, just like any other sport.”
