With campuses in Galesburg and Carthage, Ill., Sandburg features transfer agreements and dual admission partnerships with several four-year colleges and universities; online learning options; an honors program; and corporate and leisure course opportunities for lifelong learners.
Sandburg is consistently recognized as one of the top community college its size in the country for digital technology. Its introduction in 2018 of the MakerSpace — a repurposed classroom in the library that provides a place dedicated to creating, building and idea generating through the use of technology — was a part of the college’s ever-present desire to innovate for not only its students but also the community.
In addition to esports, Sandburg fields 10 Chargers teams — men's golf, women's golf, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball — through the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Sandburg is one of 14 colleges (two-year or four-year) in Illinois to offer a dental hygiene program and one of just four in the state to offer a program in mortuary science. Being introduced this fall is a new certificate program in cybersecurity.
