Principia College adds eSports program

Elsah, ILL. -- Principia College Director of Athletics Dr. Lee Ellis and Provost Dr. Joe Ritter are pleased to announce the creation of an eSports program.

eSports is a fast-growing phenomenon among colleges and universities around the globe. Both prospective and current Principia students are already participating in various eSports games on an individual basis. With the introduction of an eSports program at the College, Principia will be joining a select number of institutions sponsoring this activity.

The program will be contained within the Athletics Department, which will provide equipment, coaching, and other resources necessary to create a competitive program. Principia's goal is to provide opportunities for those who participate in eSports to share Christian Science in an environment often in need of leavening. During spring 2017, Principia eSports plans to compete in Overwatch, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone. Let the games begin!

Rob Terrell will coordinate the overall activity as an extension of what he does now as Assistant Director of Events for the Athletics Department. Feel free to contact Rob with any questions or to share your interest.
