Midwest Esports and Wichita State University Provide Local Esports Convention

This past weekend, Midwest Esports teamed up with Wichita State University to provide the Wichita Esports Convention. This convention provided numerous panels, vendors, and tournaments, including a $20,000 League of Legends tournament. Wichita State University provided the location for the convention. It was housed in the Experiential Engineering Building, where the university proudly provides numerous branded gaming PCs. As one of our member schools, WSU proudly showed off what they have built so far for their program.

The National Association of Collegiate Esports was represented by a few of our member schools within the League of Legends tournament. These schools included Missouri Valley College, University of Texas at Dallas, Midland University, and Bellevue University.

We take great pride in what our schools are doing within collegiate esports. This League of Legends tournament was not solely a collegiate tournament, resulting in competition against professional tier players. Without even blinking an eye, our four participating member schools took on the competition and made the most of their experience.

One of the panelists at the event was our very own Victoria Horsley. She informed attendees about NACE and the importance that it brings to the collegiate environment. By being able to speak to coaches such as Patrick Ocampo from Missouri Valley College, the Wichita Esports Convention gave NACE a great place to connect.

This event was not only great for NACE and NACE members, but it also provided centralized competition within the city of Wichita, Kansas. As more events such as this one are provided throughout the country, esports can blossom into something we have not yet seen. Esports is growing to be one of the largest industries in the nation, and we are very happy to be able to help represent the collegiate level.
