KANSAS CITY, MO – The National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) welcomes Michael Torres to the position of Competition Support Specialist.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Michael in the past,” said JJ Myers, Competition Manager. “He’s incredibly passionate about collegiate esports, and I’m excited for him to be the newest addition to our team.”

Torres served as the esports assistant coach at ECPI University in Richmond, VA, from March 2021 to December 2021, after participating as an athlete on the ECPI Rocket League team from January 2019 to 2020. In his time at ECPI University, Torres coached over forty Collegiate Esports athletes in over six game titles, conducted practices, and maintained practice attendance records and reporting requirements for all players in the program. Prior to his time at ECPI, Torres also served as an Inside Sales Member for McKesson Medical-Surgical, and as an Airborne Infantryman Team-Leader in the United States Army.

As the new Competition Support Specialist, Torres will work closely with the NACE competition team to provide competitor support during regular season and national championship events, and work closely with leadership groups to help provide the best quality of competition to NACE members.

“As a kid who grew up being told that a passion for video games would never lead to a career, I am beyond excited to begin working with NACE to help build, grow, and support the competitions that bring opportunities to so many institutions and athletes,” said Torres. “Only a few years ago this would’ve been unthinkable, and being able reach this goal is amazing. I will rise to this opportunity and look forward to helping NACE continue to offer its high level of competition to our esteemed member institutions.”
