League of Legends tourney schedule unveiled for 2019 iBuyPower Midwest Campus Clash

COLUMBIA, Missouri – March 20, 2019 — Excitement continues to build for the iBuyPower Midwest Campus Clash and Gaming Expo as the bracket for the collegiate League of Legends tournament was released on Wednesday.

The seven-team tourney features some of the top squads in the country vying for a piece of the $25,000 prize pool on the Columbia College Campus on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The tournament will feature some marquee match-ups, including a “Fifth Down Showdown” in Round 3 between the University of Missouri and the University of Colorado at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Host and ESPN.com’s No. 1 team in the country Columbia College will play the winner of that matchup.

No. 2 Maryville University, No. 4 Harrisburg University, No. 11 Robert Morris University, and Grand View University (RV) will tangle Friday night for the right to move on to the semifinals on Saturday. Friday night’s matches will not be open to the public. The complete bracket will feature the following matchups:

 

Friday, April 5 (*these two matches are not open to the public)

Round 1 – 5:00 p.m. – (RV) Grandview University vs. No. 4 Harrisburg University

Round 2 – 7:00 p.m.  – No. 2 Maryville University vs. No. 11 Robert Morris University

 

Saturday, April 6

Round 3 – 10:15 a.m. – University of Colorado vs. University of Missouri

 

Semifinals

Round 5 – 11:45 a.m. – Winner of Round 1 vs. Winner of Round 2

Round 6 – 1:15 p.m. – Winner of Round 3 vs. No. 1 Columbia College

 

Finals

Round 6 – 4:00 p.m. – Winner of Round 5 vs. Winner of Round 6

 

The premier collegiate gaming expo in the region, which is free and open to the public, features activities for all skill levels and ages. The college is partnering with iBuyPower for the first time as a Gold sponsor for the event.

A new and exciting feature of the 2019 Clash will be a free Fortnite tournament, presented in partnership with Ukatsu. The battle royal for gaming greatness is open to all ages and with the first wave starting at 11:00 a.m. Registration is required for the tournament and will open on Sunday, April 1, at midwestcampusclash.com.

In addition to the League of Legends and Fortnite tournaments, the Expo area will include the Midwest’s largest mobile arcade with gaming experiences for all ages including this year’s vintage game, Gargantuan Galaga. Attendees can also check out the latest offerings from iBuyPower, Alienware, Slackers, Socket, US Cellular, Division D and more.
