Position Summary

Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the current position of Head eSports Coach.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate for this part-time, stipend position will oversee all aspects of starting a collegiate competitive eSports program, including, but not limited to, recruiting qualified student-athletes, monitoring academic progress toward degree, budgeting, scheduling, competition and practice preparation, individual and program development, facility and equipment maintenance, fundraising, and community activity. The incumbent must fulfill these duties while adhering to all rules, guidelines, and principles as set forth by Belmont Abbey College.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate a vision in the recruitment of student-athletes that fits well with the institution’s mission and character as a distinctively Catholic and Benedictine college that views sport as a means of developing virtue. The minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree, at least one year of competitive eSports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements, and expert knowledge of at least one of the following eSports games: League of Legends, FIFA 2017, NBA 2K, etc.

In addition, candidates must wholeheartedly embrace the mission of the College to educate students in the liberal arts and sciences “so that in all things God may be glorified.” The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
